Loot and rarity

Loot in Deskrawl is rolled per wave, not per kill, and the boss wave of a stage carries most of its legendary odds. Everything below is read from the game's loot code and its drop tables.

One roll per wave

The game determines a wave's loot once upon the death of its final enemy, scaling drops to that creature's level. Fighting ten wolves rather than three won't alter your drops; clearing waves faster is what matters. Standard waves grant a single item roll, mini-bosses yield two, and zone bosses award three, with each roll checking for a divine item before selecting another rarity.

The rarity table

Every wave type scales between two baseline rarity tables—one set at level 1 and the other at level 70—interpolating according to the enemy level. On standard waves, the drop failure rate climbs from 87.4% at level 1 up to 95% at level 70, common drops decline, and legendary items begin appearing at level 10, eventually hitting a 0.15% drop rate per roll by level 70. By contrast, a level 70 zone boss receives three separate rolls at a 3% legendary chance, making the stage's culminating boss encounter far more lucrative than every preceding regular wave combined.

Per roll, no Magic Find. The Inferno column is a map that was level 70 on Normal.

What Magic Find does

Magic Find boosts the relative weights of uncommon, rare, and legendary tiers rather than directly inflating your end drop rates. For instance, having +100% Magic Find doubles those three tiers' weights while leaving common and "nothing" untouched; consequently, a level 70 boss legendary chance climbs from 3% to 3.7% instead of jumping straight to 6%. You see returns closest to a true double boost during normal waves where "nothing" takes up the bulk of the drop pool. Furthermore, Magic Find contributes 30% of its value to divine rolls and 20% toward rune rarity.

Playing on Nightmare or Inferno applies a secondary multiplier to those three drop weights, offering 0.5% per map level on Nightmare and 1% on Inferno (calculated using the stage's original Normal-mode level). Under this formula, the final stage boss on Inferno holds a 3.6% chance to drop a legendary. Early maps grant virtually no bonus on higher difficulties despite enemies scaling to level 70, making late-game stages the premier farming spots.

Which item you get

Following the initial rarity check, the loot system selects an equipment slot before choosing the specific piece. All equipable slots available at your current level share an identical weighting, aside from Back, which rolls at only 7% of standard slot probability. The game then selects at random among all valid candidate items in that category; consequently, an item pool of only two legendaries gives vastly superior individual odds compared to a pool of eight. To find the exact probabilities for individual pieces, consult the drop rate calculator.

Divine, ancient and Black Mist

Acquiring a Divine item requires slaying level 70 foes on Inferno difficulty, checked via an independent roll prior to standard rarity determination. Zone bosses feature a baseline drop rate of 0.001% per roll, elite waves sit at 0.0003%, and standard waves cannot drop them at all. All Divine drops roll at item level 990 with predetermined stats.

Legendary drops from level 70 foes have a chance to upgrade. On Nightmare and Inferno, 0.32% roll as Black Mist: these are unrevealed, level 850, and let you select each affix from two offered choices with maximum values. If it does not become Black Mist, it has a 10% chance on any difficulty to roll as Ancient, which maxes out all affixes. As a result, roughly 10% of endgame legendaries are ancient. Back slot items are excluded from both upgrades.

Solo Self-Found

Because offline heroes are flagged with Solo Self-Found status, their drop rates for the game's rarest treasures are doubled (a 2× multiplier). This adjustment applies to divine rolls, Black Mist (raised to 0.6% from 0.32%), the Legendary and Set weightings on boss rune drops, as well as any Rift or standard monster special drop yielding a Legendary Rein, a Legendary or Set rune, divine gear, a Gold Bar, or a Consecration Stone. Super-rare fish benefit from the identical boost. Meanwhile, online characters operate under standard rates; precisely speaking, the items receiving boosted offline odds are the very ones eligible for player trading online.

Everything else in a wave

Gems drop via an independent roll starting at level 30, unaffected by Magic Find: 1% on normal waves, 6% on elite waves, and 12% from bosses. Runes drop exclusively from level 40+ bosses at a 2% rate per boss kill, with set runes restricted to Inferno difficulty. Every wave additionally has a 0.05% chance to yield a treasure map key suited to your current difficulty.

Special enemy drops—encompassing every minion's Rein along with boss upgrade materials—operate under unique roll conditions: every unique enemy archetype present in a defeated wave receives a single roll on its personal table, no matter how many copies were slain. These materials never drop inside the Mythic Rift. Refer to individual enemy pages for full drop tables and rate percentages.
