1. Select Algeria
Begin by picking Algeria on the map, then zoom into Tassili n’Ajjer Desert to spawn there.
2. Equip a Portable Winch
Before heading out, make sure your vehicle is outfitted with at least one Portable Winch alongside a higher-tier winch like a Stage 2 or Stage 3. These ensure you have enough reach to suspend the vehicle adequately.
3. Drive to the Scenic Viewpoint
Spawn at either Porte Du Desert Camp or Crazy Gunther and make your way toward the blue marker denoting the Scenic Viewpoint. This is your prime location for the winch hang.
4. Deploy the Portable Winch
Once you arrive, press Enter to open your equipment selection and deploy the Portable Winch. Position it carefully for the best anchor point.
5. Attach the Winch and Drive Off the Cliff
Hook your winch to the anchor point, then slowly drive off the cliff edge. Your goal is to have your vehicle hang completely suspended in the air, held solely by the winch.
6. Extend the Winch and Wait

Choose Canada on the selection map, then pick Gimli Ridge as your destination.

As before, equip a reliable Portable Winch as well as a Stage 3 or Stage 4 winch to maximize your cable length for the suspension.
3. Reach the Rock Bridge
Spawn at Sunset Landing Cabin or Mount Gibson Lodge and make your way toward the blue circle showing the rock bridge location.
4. Collect the Crate
You’ll want to secure the crate located on the far side of this rock bridge if you haven’t already—this part is necessary before you set the winch.
5. Return to the Middle of the Bridge
Drive back to the center section of the rock bridge, the ideal spot to deploy your winch.
6. Deploy the Portable Winch
Open your equipment menu and activate the Portable Winch here to get ready for the hang.
7. Attach the Winch and Drive Off the Cliff
Connect your vehicle to the winch and carefully drive off the cliff to suspend it above the ground.
8. Extend the Winch
With your vehicle hanging, press L to extend the winch fully, keeping the vehicle suspended in midair.
9. Hang for 10 Seconds
Hold this precarious position for 10 seconds to secure the Held by a Thread achievement.
