LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight turns the caped crusader's world into a vibrant playground full of secrets waiting to be uncovered. Collectibles aren’t just a completionist's dream here—they unlock cosmetic perks like new character palettes, adding a fresh twist to familiar outfits. Tracking down every hidden item in Story Mode can enhance your experience, letting you enjoy Batman’s universe in all its detailed glory.
Each mission map has its own set of collectibles reflecting the story's setting—like surfboards toppled in the Docks or bonsai trees scattered through the Prologue. Alongside these, you'll find Red Bricks that unlock visual upgrades and Wayne Tech Caches that provide components for Batcave enhancements. Knowing what to look for in each area sets you on the right path.
Following the collectibles in the order you encounter them during the story helps keep your search organized. This approach avoids missing key items tucked away in harder-to-reach spots and ensures you don’t backtrack unnecessarily.
Prologue
Infiltration
The Prologue’s only mission, Infiltration, tasks you with uncovering Talia’s plans for Gotham alongside her. This mission hides 5 bonsai trees to destroy and a Red Brick to find. The first bonsai doubles as part of the gameplay teaching you basic interactions—knocking it down clears a path through vents.
Bonsai 1
Early on, you’ll see two chandeliers: one in your current room and another in a nearby one. Using your ninja tools on two hit points near the first chandelier causes them to fall, smashing the first bonsai tree blocking your way. This interaction is designed to introduce you to environmental destruction and collectables simultaneously.
Bonsai 2
After venturing through the blocked vent into the next room, you’ll hit a ledge with four corners. For the second bonsai, head to the corner directly left before jumping down. It grows right against the outer wall. If you feel lost, exploring each corner chamber guarantees you won’t miss it.
This bonsai’s placement encourages careful observation of the environment, reminding you that collectibles can sometimes lurk just off the main route.
Bonsai 3
When building the bed from broken objects—a mission objective—jump up and take the left corridor to find the third bonsai tree at the hall’s end. This teaches you to look both ahead and around in mission spaces, as collectibles often await in branching paths.
Red Brick
After constructing a crossbow bridge, you’ll hang from a ledge. Instead of climbing up immediately, follow the coin trail down through a tunnel to a room with statues. Among these is a puzzle with four pressure plates that you must activate using the two book stacks alongside yourself and Talia to unlock the Red Brick.
Solving this pressure plate puzzle showcases the game’s clever integration of collectibles and gameplay mechanics. The Red Brick rewards your curiosity and puzzle-solving skills with new cosmetic options.
Bonsai 4
After overcoming the puzzle door and vent, you’ll fall into a hallway. Turning left, you may need to destroy some objects to unveil the fourth bonsai tree. The game often hides collectibles behind breakable scenery, so breaking everything in sight is a smart habit.
Turn left. You might have to break some stuff to open up the way but there should be your next bonsai tree.
Bonsai 5
Following a mini boss fight with Ra’s al Ghul and as the temple collapses, head left toward a wooden platform where the final bonsai of the mission hides. This collectible encourages exploration in dynamic environments during intense sequences.
Chapter 1
New Beginnings, Docks
This chapter’s collectibles include 5 surfboards and a Red Brick, fitting the waterfront theme. These surfboards are usually found near water and dockside structures, often just off the beaten path.
Surfboard 1
Right after using Gordon’s foam ability for the first time, look beside a blue trolley that you have to move. The first surfboard is just next to it, waiting for you to smash it.
Surfboard 2
Progressing further, you’ll build a contraption holding three barrels—a tip that a surfboard lies nearby. Passing through a grated gate leads you to the second surfboard by a covered container.
Surfboard 3
To continue, you must stop moving containers. Use Batman to break a lock, then use Gordon to foam the brake. After crossing, the next surfboard sits near an orange ladder.
Surfboard 4
Following the container challenge, you’ll fight NPCs in a chamber. Once cleared, a tunnel in the left corner leads directly to the fourth surfboard, nestled next to the left wall.
Red Brick
After infiltrating a factory and defeating enemies, build a contraption. To the left of it is a chamber with a yellow container and roof entry. Accessing this hidden chamber reveals the Red Brick.
Surfboard 5
The fifth surfboard is nearby, just on the opposite end from the Red Brick in the same surroundings. Scouting the entire area ensures you won’t miss this final collectible.
Carmine Falcone, Iceberg Lounge
This mission amps up the collectible count with 5 Disco Balls, 5 Wayne Tech Caches, and a Red Brick. Each item ties into the glamorous yet gritty setting of the Iceberg Lounge.
Disco Ball 1
Right at the quest’s start, you’ll use stage lights. To the right, near a tunnel, spot the first disco ball awaiting collection.
Wayne Tech Cache 1
Passing through a tunnel leads into a room where the first Wayne Tech Cache sits directly on your left, encouraging keen observation as you move forward.
Disco Ball 2
Further along, another set of stage lights appear. Look above and to the right side for the second disco ball, hidden just out of immediate reach.
Disco Ball 3
Upon entering the room with a prominent "Iceberg Lounge" sign, walk the wire along the right side to find the third disco ball perched precariously.
Red Brick
Stay in the Iceberg Lounge and pass through the room opposite the sign. Here, a safe room guards the Red Brick on the right. This one requires interacting with two white Lego pieces marked with numbers "x96" and "59x".
Rotating these numbers to form "596" opens the safe, rewarding you with the Red Brick. You must talk to Flass first to access behind Selina’s bar, where the second number is hidden.
Wayne Tech Cache 2Turn the numbers around unti you get 596 and the safe will open and you can grab the red brick.
Wayne Tech Cache 2
After preparing food for Falcone and taking an elevator down, turn left toward Ska-kham Asylum and go through a vent. Inside, the Wayne Tech Cache hides behind bars, requiring you to grab an electrical cord from hazardous water currents, plug it in, and then clear foam to unlock it.
Wayne Tech Cache 3Wayne Tech Cache 3
In a large playground area, enter the front-left opening of the first chamber and head upstairs through blue rollers to reach the third Wayne Tech Cache.
Go through the blue rollers and the Wayne Cache will be inside.
Disco Ball 4
Continuing forward, you’ll find another room with more blue rollers. The fourth disco ball sits directly across from you upon entry.
Wayne Tech Cache 4
Encounter a circular enemy formation next, with stealth attack points above. Using special vision reveals a vent near your entry point. Crawling through leads you to the Wayne Tech Cache tucked into the right corner beyond the vent.
As you go through the vent, the cache will be forward, on the right corner.
Wayne Tech Cache 5
A room pounding with loud music signals the last Wayne Tech Cache. You must stop the music first—Batman cues this—to break through. Then, use a Batarang to open a locked gate and perform a high jump onto a castle structure to grab the cache.
Disco Ball 5
During a scene featuring Red Hood entering an elevator, head to the right side of the chamber to discover the final disco ball of the mission. Timing your movements with story events is key to spotting this collectible.
