007: First Light thrives on stealth and subtle problem solving, but occasionally throws in moments that require careful observation rather than just sneaking past guards. One memorable sequence comes during the Knightfall chapter, where cracking Sir Nicholas Webb's safe hinges on piecing together subtle clues from his office. This puzzle caught many players off guard, but the key lies in carefully examining four distinct objects around the room for a hidden combination.
How to Unlock Webb’s Safe in 007: First Light
When you slip into Webb Industries and locate Sir Nicholas Webb's office, pressing the button on his desk reveals a safe embedded in the wall. The safe won’t simply open—its combination is locked behind a riddle: "Diploma, Painting, Game, Model." Understanding this clue is essential to progressing.
The puzzle invites you to inspect specific objects around the office in the precise order the clue mentions. Each object holds a numerical hint, combining to form the safe’s code. Let's break down what you need to examine and why.
Start with the diploma resting in a frame on the center table. It proudly states that Webb graduated first in his class. This phrasing points us to the number 1 as the first digit in the combination.
Next up is the painting on the left side of the office. The title, Basilisk, rendition #4, clearly emphasizes the number 4. The presence of this ordinal number confirms the second digit of our code.
Then move toward the video game displayed near the safe. The vintage game’s name is Hyperion 9, which highlights the number 9 as the third digit.
Finally, examine the scale model situated on the right side of the room. Its title, Site III, uses Roman numerals representing 3, concluding the sequence for the safe combination.
With all four numbers extracted in order, return to the safe and input: 1493. This will unlock the safe instantly.
Successfully cracking the safe on the first try not only opens up new content but also grants the Crackerjack challenge, rewarding players for their close attention to environmental details.
