How Do Gene-Seeds Work
You can carry the Gene-Seed in the same inventory slot as the Guardian Relic, but only one at a time. Picking up a Gene-Seed grants the entire squad a 30% XP increase once the operation finishes.
But watch out: if the carrier dies even once before the mission ends, the Gene-Seed is lost, and so is the bonus. Also, if the carrier grabs a Guardian Relic, the Gene-Seed disappears from their inventory.
Each mission includes several preset spawn points for the Gene-Seed. Once you memorize these spots, you’ll find the Gene-Seed almost every single time.

Shortly after passing a bunker with a Dataslate, you’ll arrive at a burning tank where the path diverges. The Gene-Seed can spawn atop a green crate on the right side of this tank.

After planting charges, ride the elevator to the Station’s top floor. Turn around, observe the statue on the left; behind a wooden rood screen is where the Gene-Seed can appear.

Look for red crates on the left corner of this room where the Gene-Seed may be hidden.
