In Anime Expeditions, summoning a rare character is only the first step toward assembling a formidable lineup. The tower defense gameplay demands precision, and facing down waves of durable bosses often comes down to the individual performance numbers running behind your units. Even two identical characters can perform completely differently on the field based on the numbers they rolled.
While systems like Traits, Evolutions, and Equipment offer noticeable upgrades, individual stats establish the baseline power of every fighter. A high-tier unit with poor rolls can easily struggle in late-game challenges, while an average unit boasting top-tier grades can punch well above its weight class.
This guide breaks down every core attribute in the game, explains the complete grading scale from Z down to F, and details the upgrade systems available so you know exactly which characters are worth keeping and how to optimize your roster.
Core Unit Stats Explained
Every fighter in the game relies on three fundamental combat attributes. Understanding how these interact helps you decide positioning and resource allocation.
Damage
Damage represents the flat amount of health an enemy loses with each strike. It acts as the direct foundation for your team's total damage per second (DPS). Rolling high Damage grades allows your units to eliminate standard mob waves before they reach your defensive line and burns down beefy boss health bars significantly faster. Because offensive effectiveness scales across every mode, Damage is universally valuable on nearly any damage-dealing character, especially those with naturally quick attack cadences.
Range
Range dictates the reach of a unit's targeting circle measured from its placement point. Expanding this radius provides crucial tactical advantages during defense:
- Units begin attacking incoming threats much earlier along the path.
- A single placement can cover intersections across multiple enemy routes.
- Targets spend more time inside the attack zone, taking damage for a longer duration before escaping.
- The need to sell, adjust, or replace units mid-match is greatly minimized.
Support characters, crowd-control units, and fighters possessing wide area-of-effect (AoE) abilities gain massive value from high Range rolls, as hitting wider map sections maximizes their utility.
SPA (Seconds Per Attack)
SPA measures the exact delay between consecutive attacks. Unlike Damage and Range, lower SPA numbers are superior. The interval works as follows:
- 5.0 SPA: The unit launches one attack every five seconds.
- 3.0 SPA: The unit strikes once every three seconds.
- 2.0 SPA: The unit delivers very rapid strikes.
A lower delay means your character attacks substantially more often throughout a stage. Because faster execution leads directly to higher sustained DPS, the top-tier stat grades for SPA will reduce the number rather than increase it.
Stat Grades and Tier Hierarchy
Whenever a unit is acquired, its Damage, Range, and SPA each roll a separate grade. It is completely normal for a single unit to feature an outstanding Damage roll alongside a mediocre Range or SPA roll. The grades rank in the following order from best to worst:
- Z (Highest possible grade)
- SSS
- SS
- S
- A+
- A
- A-
- B+
- B
- B-
- C+
- C
- C-
- F (Lowest possible grade)
Higher grades grant significant percentage bonuses, whereas bottom-tier grades like F can actively penalize a character's effectiveness. Due to the independent nature of the three rolls, landing high grades across all three categories on the same character is exceptionally rare.
Prioritizing the Right Stats
While optimal priorities change depending on whether a unit is an attacker or a buffer, general rules of thumb apply to most team builds:
- Damage: The most reliable and versatile stat for primary attackers. It scales cleanly alongside external systems like Evolutions, Traits, and Equipment gear.
- SPA: Frequently matches Damage in overall value. Cutting down attack animations allows fighters to clear swarms and apply constant pressure, making quick SPA rolls top priority for high-impact attackers.
- Range: Slightly more specialized, but essential on large battlefields. A high Range grade turns area-damage units into map-wide threats.
How to Improve and Optimize Unit Stats
You are not stuck with the initial values your units roll upon summoning. The game provides two distinct methods to fine-tune your team.
Stat Rerolls
Using a Stat Reroll resets all three attributes (Damage, Range, and SPA) simultaneously with brand-new, randomized grades. Because results can roll either higher or lower than what you currently possess, save your reroll materials for core units that you intend to keep on your active team long-term.
Stat Transfer
Stat Transfer lets you take favorable stat rolls from an older or obsolete character and move them directly onto a better unit or an evolved variant. This process costs Gold, but it removes the RNG gamble and guarantees you preserve rare, high-tier grades rather than letting them go to waste.
