ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE immerses players in high-stakes aerial combat where precision and timing are everything. Among the many challenges, encountering enemy ace pilots stands out for those who seek extra depth and rewards beyond the main storyline, offering unique aircraft skins that spotlight your hard-earned victories.
Enemy Ace Pilots , also called "Named Aircraft," represent hidden elite adversaries scattered across the game's missions. These pilots don't appear on your first run but demand specific achievements for their appearance, adding an extra layer to your campaign experience.
To face an Enemy Ace Pilot, you first need to complete the related mission at least once. Then, replay the mission on Veteran difficulty or higher while fulfilling particular criteria such as destroying certain targets quickly, engaging in special maneuvers like flying under specific structures, or completing a mission phase within strict time limits.
ACE COMBAT 8 features 83 enemy ace pilots, with 52 tied directly to story progression. The remaining 31 are secret encounters that offer a rewarding challenge. Successfully shooting down one unlocks a unique skin for that pilot's aircraft.
Importantly, the mission must be successfully completed to register a kill on an ace pilot. If you fail and opt to restart from a checkpoint before completing the mission, the ace won't respawn, requiring a full mission restart. However, if you reach a checkpoint after downing the ace prior to failure, the kill counts.
You can track defeated ace pilots in the main menu via DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA > CAMPAIGN ASSAULT RECORDS, where detailed information including backgrounds and post-war fates of the pilots are displayed.
Alisher Drygin, "Gigas" appears in Mission 01, "Jokers Wild." To trigger his spawn, shoot down all non-target Mig-21s that appear later in the mission. Once that is done, Gigas will emerge in the middle of the combat zone.
Karim Alibasov, "Crematio" spawns in Mission 02, "Nomad." To summon Crematio, shoot down at least five enemy aircraft within the first three minutes after mission start. He will then appear in the northern part of the map.

Abai Rakishev, "Raia" can be found in Mission 03, "Purple Magic Takes Flight." Later in the mission, destroy all Tu-160 bombers marked as targets. When Su-25SM attackers appear in the north, Raia will spawn from the east side.

Keith Arden, "Auster" spawns in Mission 04, "Fall of Numbered Fleets." To trigger Auster, fly through the tunnel at Newfield Island where he waits inside, providing an excellent opportunity for an ambush.

Janysh Atambayev, "Custos" appears in Mission 05, "Retaking of Theve." You must protect all LCACs during the first stage. When the LCACs begin retreating, Custos will spawn in the west, ready to engage.

Ali Maqomaev, "Tessera" can be found in Mission 08, "Retaking of Theve II." To trigger Tessera, destroy all non-target ground units early in the mission. Tessera will appear in the southeast afterward.
Akbarsho Dobov, "Judex" shows up in Mission 09, "The Land Battleship Blockade." You must destroy the Land Battleship’s Secondary Tread Armor before crossing the second slowdown line. Judex will then spawn in the northwest.

Mahmud Nazarov, "Vorago" appears during Mission 10, "Over the Rainband." After the scripted first Spear attack, destroy an airship within 70 seconds of being targeted by a laser. Vorago will then spawn centrally alongside two F-14Ds.
Ace #9: Akbarsho Dobov, "Judex"
Destroy the Land Battleship’s Secondary Tread Armor before the Second Slowdown Line. After that, Judex will spawn in Northwest
Ace #10: Mahmud Nazarov, "Vorago"
Fatih Sien, "Larus" spawns in Mission 11, "Maximum Payload." At mission start, take out the first three Podarges. When Shadows arrive, ignore the remaining Podarges and focus on shooting down all Shadows. Larus will then spawn from the southeast.

Arda Aziz, "Imber" appears in Mission 12, "An Island in Darkness." Destroy all enemy LCACs within the first three minutes to trigger Imber's spawn, who will then appear in the east.

Gael Mendoza, "Sicarius" can be encountered in Mission 13, "The People of the Lost Country." Destroy at least five radar towers before the C-130 lands to make Sicarius spawn in the west.

Mikail Safonov, "Lupus" appears in Mission 15, "Wings of Wax." Taking down one of the two Ladons will trigger Lupus to appear in the northeast.

Selcuk Copello, "Currus" appears in Mission 16, "Singer." After destroying two out of three terrorist ships, the last to launch drones, Currus will spawn in the northwest.

After you destroy 2 of the 3 terrorist ships, the last ship will launch drones. After that Currus will spawn in Northwest.
Ace #16: Alda Tavara, "Avus"
Alda Tavara, "Avus" can be found in Mission 17, "Land Battleship No. 3." Destroy all enemies marked with TGT before allied bombers hit the halfway mark. After their payload drop and the mission update, Avus spawns in the northwest, sometimes northeast — keep an eye on your radar.

Yusef Kariri, "Curis" emerges in Mission 18, "Moonlight and Shadows." After shooting down Shadow 24, Curis along with reinforcements appears in the south, flying towards you.

Sabri Guliyev, "Aleator" can be found in Mission 19, "Clearing the Lighthouse." Your goal is to shoot down all eight Su-47s that spawn throughout the mission, after which Aleator will appear outside the combat zone in the northeast, heading your way.

Nuri Rakhimov, "Periodus" appears during Mission 20, "Escort Orbiter." At mission start, you must destroy BVRAAM missiles fired by B-2 Spirit bombers. These bombers won't appear on your radar until you're very close, so visually locate and shoot them down. Once a B-2 is downed, Periodus spawns in the north outside the combat zone and flies toward you.

Saud Abqar, "Alienus" spawns in Mission 21, "The Star-Bound Bird." Clearing all enemy ships will trigger Alienus's appearance in the east.

Lima Al Ade, "Caligo" emerges in Mission 22, "Pursuing the HSCA." Approach the Celaeno stealthily, and when reinforcements arrive, Caligo will appear among them.

When they make their appearence, shoot down all of the Gemma Squadron and Ventus Squadron aircraft under 3 minutes. After that, both Milvus and Cantrix will spawn in East. They will be flying side by side towards you.

Protect all LCACs until they land. Sabulum will spawn in South.
Ace #25 & #26: Sakat Vasiev, "Cinis" & Rashed Haitham, "Silacrum"
Similar to the Mission 23, you can easily get both aces to spawn in one playthrough of this mission.
In order to spawn Cinis, you have to destroy every Land Destroyer & Land Aegis ships (including those which are airdropped by Podarges & ones in water. When you destroy all Land Destroyers & Aegises, Cinis will spawn in South.
And in order to spawn the Silacrum, you have to fly between the moored Podarge's wings & ocean surface. After that, Silacrum will spawn somewhere close to the Cinis's spawn point.
Ace #27: Isshahk Akcura, "Lucidius"
Isshahk Akcura, "Lucidius" spawns in Mission 26, "Crossing Fleets." Eliminate all ground targets on Cima Island, prompting Lucidius to appear directly east, heading toward the battle zone center.
Ace #28: Heydar Sharif, "Stiria"
Heydar Sharif, "Stiria" appears in Mission 27, "Fatsia, The Ocean Fortress." Fly through the gaps in any Megafloat spoke—doesn't matter which one—and Stiria will spawn nearby in the northeast. This is an easy spawning condition, so consider taking him down early in the mission.
Ace #29: Ilham Rakhimov, "Harmonius"
Ilham Rakhimov, "Harmonius" can be found in Mission 28, "A Thousand Points of Light." Shoot down at least five enemy bombers within five minutes of starting the mission. When Tu-160 reinforcements arrive from the southeast, Harmonius will be among them.
Bonus: Mehmet Shahin, "Shadow 25"
Despite being a story-related ace, for this one you also need to meet a specific criteria.
In order to spawn him, you need to shoot down "Shadow 24" during Mission 18 "Moonlight and Shadow" and then, in the same playthrough, during "A Thousand Points of Light" shoot down all Shadows except 22.

Mehmet Shahin, "Shadow 25" is an additional ace in Mission 28, "A Thousand Points of Light." To summon him, you must have previously shot down "Shadow 24" during Mission 18, "Moonlight and Shadows." Then, in the same playthrough, eliminate all Shadows except "Shadow 22." This layered condition makes Shadow 25 a challenging but rewarding target.
Timur Vinokourov, "Prudens" appears in Mission 29, "Selene." Trigger his spawn by flying under a specific highway bridge located in downtown Theve. After completing this, Prudens will materialize at the center of the combat zone.
Ace #31: Farkhad Dobzhansky, "Tegimen"
Farkhad Dobzhansky, "Tegimen" is found in Mission 30, "Song of Wings." Early in the mission, destroy at least three Submarine-Launched Missile Dispensers before missiles are launched. Once the mission updates with the submarine surfacing, Tegimen will spawn in the southeast.
