Background & History
In Year 12 of The Order, a flash of golden sword Qi capable of cleaving the firmament erupted above Xinglong Manor; that wasLong WuA secret signal had been prearranged with his wife's handmaiden, Mo Zhaoyun—a warning that meant only one thing: Long Wu and his wife were on the verge of death.
Mo Zhaoyun never imagined that the mighty Long Clan would genuinely see its grand empire come crashing down.
The instant the golden sword Qi lit up the sky, she knew the fateful hour had come. Steeling her nerve, she carried out her pact with Long Wu and his wife, scooping up the young master and escaping through the tunnel beneath Xinglong Manor's rear hall.
"The final bloodline of the Long clan must survive." Clinging to this single hope, she endured starvation and marched day and night without rest, at last reaching Yama's Gorge outside White Crane Town.
Her orders were simple: meet the deathsworn Qilin Ke in White Crane Town and secretly raise the young lord together. Once the boy grew into manhood, he could finally restore the Long Clan to its former glory.
She could endure the hardship, but her infant could not. As a hunger-fueled wail echoed across the valley, hidden assassins from The Order sprang their ambush and surrounded them instantly.
Worn down by days of sleepless flight, Mo Zhaoyun mounted a desperate defense, but she was utterly drained and hopelessly outmatched by elite ambushers from The Order. Knocked unconscious in a single blow, she awoke to find the young master gone. She scrambled out of Yanwang Valley in frantic pursuit, only to find that The Order had vanished without leaving a trace.
Mo Zhaoyun was paralyzed by remorse upon realizing he had severed the final line of the Long clan, driving him to the brink of ending his own life.
Right then, roadside rumors confirmed her worst fears: the Long Clan was truly wiped out. Mo Zhaoyun realized that besides herself and 'The Order', no living soul could verify the child's identity. If so, did true Long blood even matter anymore? The priority was preserving their surviving spark—so why couldn't she stoke that ember and rekindle hope to resurrect the Long legacy?
Mo Zhaoyun took a detour to nearby Red Leaf Temple, which had sheltered scores of orphans uprooted by war. Among them, a healthy infant bearing an aura of noble refinement caught her eye—the perfect substitute for the young master. Welcoming the monks' heartfelt gratitude, she adopted the baby and carried him onward toward White Crane Town.
Following his earlier instructions, Mo Zhaoyun knocked on the door and met Qilin Ke. Together, the two men gave the newborn child a name—Long Fuyuan.
Having never raised children before, Mo Zhaoyun and Qilin Ke stumbled awkwardly into sudden parenthood, generating a string of comedic missteps.
With time, Mo Zhaoyun learned to adapt. For the very first time, he realized that the peaceful, modest existence of common folk held a quiet beauty far superior to the bloodshed and chaos of the martial world.
Through seasons of unwavering companionship, mutual affection blossomed into deep devotion, uniting her and the Qilin Ke as true husband and wife. Though rough and unbridled in appearance, he treated her with genuine gentleness and tender care.
Under their care, Long Fuyuan grew into a sharp, honorable youth carrying the effortless grace of House Long's prime. Mo Zhaoyun often mused that living out their days as a quiet trio wouldn't be such a bad life—almost forgetting the dark truths she had buried away.
Yet no deceit can stay buried forever—especially one marred by such fatal flaws from the start.
When the Chaos of the Monstrous Masks broke out in Year 31 of The Order, Long Fuyuan seized the turmoil as his chance to enter the martial world, aiming to make a name for himself, forge heroic deeds, and restore the glory of the Long Clan.
Watching Long Fuyuan depart, Mo Zhaoyun offered silent prayers for the young man he had long raised as his own son. Fortunately, Long Fuyuan did not disappoint: tales soon echoed through the martial world of a 'Nameless Swordsman' performing chivalrous deeds with the unmistakable grace of the Long clan. All signs pointed to a brighter future.
Then came the day Long Fuyuan arrived alone, asking for a private word with Mo Zhaoyun. Beset by visible dread, his inquiries struck at the secret she had buried deepest in her soul—and she realized her worst fears had finally come to pass.
Gripped by anxiety, Mo Zhaoyun couldn't bring herself to reveal the truth of Long Fuyuan's birth. Instead, she urged him to believe that lineage defines nothing—true greatness is forged through dedication and virtue, rendering bloodlines irrelevant. No matter what, she and Qilin Ke would cherish and support him with all their hearts.
The passing decades granted her profound clarity, but young Long Fuyuan lacked her hard-won peace and could not yet let go.
Reading the bitter truth in Mo Zhaoyun's evasive gaze, Long Fuyuan watched his lifelong convictions crumble. Consumed by an overpowering obsession, he abandoned the home where he had lived for two decades and vanished without looking back.
Stricken by regret, Mo Zhaoyun set off alongside Qilin Ke to search for Long Fuyuan, retracing the paths she had walked in her youth.
This time, their search had nothing to do with the Long clan or grand schemes; all they wanted was to find their son.
Mo Zhaoyun knew deep down that this journey might well be a point of no return.
Yet when the golden slumber fades, he will still be by her side.
