Ability Profile

Long Mingyu fully realized the theoretical pinnacle of the Long Clan's golden sword-qi, elevating and refining its doctrine to completion. Commanding energy with effortless mastery, he could mold his blade-aura into a soaring golden dragon, rendering the physical steel in his grip entirely superfluous.

Onlookers recall that when Long Mingyu unleashed the full fury of his Dragon Roar Rain-Sword, a dazzling downpour of golden sword-light drowned out the sky, blinding everyone nearby. When the rain finally ceased, only dead foes remained.

Background & History

Childhood

Descended from the Long Clan's Four Great Masters, Long Mingyu paired innate genius with tireless grit, earning deep favor from patriarch Long Tairan despite his cadet branch birth.

Showing precocious martial genius from an early age, Long Mingyu grasped the essence of golden sword-qi after only brief guidance from the patriarch. Marked as an elite prodigy, he was assigned as companion and study attendant to Long Tairan’s fifth son, Long Wu, evolving from loyal friend into an indispensable sparring partner.

Adult

Upon Long Mingyu's coming-of-age, the Long Clan designated his very first lifelong adversary: the Profound Sky Sword Progenitor.

Peerless in martial talent across the Jianghu, Sword Patriarch Xuantian boasts an undefeated record with his proprietary Xuantian Swordplay. Paired with a legendary Black Iron Greatsword that elevates his technique, he stands as a truly formidable foe.

The Long clan specifically selected him for Long Mingyu—a decision born of deep trust that doubled as an ordeal. Whether Long Mingyu would forge an enduring legend or vanish into obscurity depended entirely on his own blade.

The fateful showdown between Long Mingyu and the Ancestor of Xuantian Sword unfolded atop the desolate Frostpeak, yet the clash drew swarms of martial spectators from across Jianghu.

When Long Mingyu first stepped into the limelight, martial artists dismissed him as brash and arrogant, predicting he would meet his doom on the icy heights of Tianlie Peak.

They could not have been more mistaken. The moment Long Mingyu drew the Longming Sword in the Rain, a brilliant golden slash cleaved the sky. From then on, the martial world etched his name into memory—along with the majestic golden dragon conjured from his sword Qi.

Though soaked in blood and racked with wounds, Long Mingyu prevailed. In that defining triumph, he transcended mortal ranks to become the dragon's blade that shattered a myth.

Because the golden sword-qi Long Mingyu unleashed in this clash fell like a dazzling tempest of blades, martial artists across the realm came to revere him as 'The Man of the Dragon-Cry Rain'.

Leader of the Orthodox Paths

Ever since toppling the Xuantian Sword Ancestor, Long Mingyu has served as the living emblem of the Long Clan. Spared from administrative burdens, his sole duty is to champion the clan's peerless glory while demonstrating his own martial supremacy.

Years later, once Long Wu came of age, Long Mingyu formally stepped into service as his personal retainer, taking up the mantle of the Long Clan's foremost master to support him.

Sharing Long Wu's magnetic demeanor, retainer and close confidant Long Mingyu orchestrated a diplomatic coup over the Six Great Sects. By trading modest martial arts insights for vast factional resources, he cemented supreme influence across Jianghu as the Righteous Alliance's foremost representative.

Established by righteous factions to stand united against heretical evils, the Orthodox Alliance is spearheaded by veteran grandmasters. Although Long Mingyu commands immense renown, some conservative elders still view his youth with skepticism.

Undeterred by mounting skepticism, Long Mingyu vindicated himself time and again. Spearheading crusades alongside righteous martial artists, he wiped out scoundrels and elevated the Righteous Alliance to widespread renown.

Thanks to Long Mingyu's exploits, House Long commanded towering reverence across the martial realm, widely hailed as paragons of righteousness rivaled only by Long Er. Yet such eminence drew predatory gazes from evil sects—foremost among them the dread bastion of the underworld, Dark Devil Citadel.

As Long Mingyu propelled his family to greater prestige, clashes with Dark Devil Fortress turned into a recurring feud. Even with casualties on both sides, the martial realm viewed the Long Clan as holding the decisive upper hand, cloaking Long Mingyu and his kin in an almost sacred aura.

In Year 5 of The Order, Long Mingyu made an appointmentAnmo FortressFortress LordMo Tiana battle; yet just as the clash was about to erupt, Mu TianmiaoBarged in suddenly, using sheer martial prowess to halt their duel.

The Long Clan resembled a sheathed blade—quiet, unfathomable, yet poised to strike at any instant. Across the martial world, all knew that whenever that sword was drawn, it would be wielded by Long Mingyu, whose edge could annihilate anyone brazen enough to stand against his family.

Clan Feud

As the family's greatest warrior, Long Mingyu served as the Long clan's premier martial figurehead, defending its dignity amid decline and projecting an aura of overwhelming might.

His exceptional martial prowess and unwavering allegiance to Long Wu's faction naturally turned him into a bitter thorn in the side of rival heirs like Long Er, who sought the patriarch's seat.

In Year 10 of The Order, Patriarch Long Tairan's sudden death plunged the clan into panic. As Long Wu's retainer, Long Mingyu relocated with the couple to Xinglong Manor to investigate the patriarch's demise and stand guard around the clock.

In Year 12 of The Order, Dark Demon Fortress was destroyed by The Order. Soon after, Long Mingyu caught wind of evidence among the ruins that could expose the truth behind the old patriarch's sudden death. He ventured out to investigate, unaware that Long Er and The Order had laid an ambush. Besieged by waiting enemies, he fought valiantly before plunging off a cliff along the Eastern Sea shore, his fate unknown.

From then on, not a soul in the martial realm knew where he had gone.

Phantom Blade 2

In Year 31 of The Order, Zuo Shang journeyed deep into the desert pursuing Xuan Yu. Inside the Thousand Buddha Caves, he encountered an aged, wheelchair-bound man suspected to be Long Mingyu—still a formidable combatant despite his infirmity. The elder aided Zuo Shang in unraveling Xuan Yu's schemes and seemingly imparted secret Long Clan martial arts to him.

During the resurgence of the 'Five Fingers' turmoil in Year 38 of The Order, operatives discovered deep ties linking the 'Little Finger' to Long Mingyu.
