Character Profile
The son of Xuan Li, who was the adopted son of Grand Scholar Xuan Mo,XuanyuWithXuan Yu...'s father. Naturally gifted with a keen intellect and encyclopedic memory, he dedicated his life to restoring the Xuan family under his father's influence.
Xuan Ji navigated rival factions to reverse-engineer fragments of the Black Demon Wound, ultimately crafting the "Sha-Qi Generator"—the catalyst that birthed the era of Sha-Qi body modifications.
In Year 13 of The Order, Xuanji met his end upon Tianling Peak.
Ability Profile
Believing that the strong duel with wits while the weak rely on brawn, Xuanji never distinguished himself through raw martial arts.
Drawing upon Xuan family technology, he engineered two formidable devices that elevated his combat capability to the highest tiers of the martial world.
The first innovation was his Mechanical Lens, an ingenious monocle Xuan Ji crafted using the Xuan clan's advanced engineering. Primed with merely a spark of Sha-Qi, it scans the flow of an opponent's killing intent alongside vital signs, enabling the user to flawlessly anticipate their next strike. His son, Xuan Yu, took this concept even further by mechanically modifying his own eye.
His second invention was a mechanical gauntlet that stimulated acupuncture points along the arm to unleash an explosive surge of Sha-Qi. Paired with the Mechanical Lens, it allowed him to eliminate adversaries in a heartbeat. His son, Xuan Yu, later inherited the gauntlets and refined them into his signature weapon, "Oblivion."
As an ultimate contingency, Xuanji engineered a deviously compact hidden mechanism concealed directly inside his mouth. When triggered, it spits deadly venom-coated needles without warning, blindsiding anyone caught off-guard.
Background & History
In Youth
Hailing from an imperial scholar house, the Xuan family once decoded the Heavenly Book by royal mandate, unearthing lost technologies. Clan head Xuan Mo later fled the palace with fragmented volumes, constructing a labyrinthine contraption deep within the desert wastes to conceal the stolen texts, keeping only a single copy on his person.
Buried a hundred paces beneath desert sands, this vault defies brute force. Its theoretical key requires Sha-Qi dozens of times greater than what modern masters possess, focused through precise contours to unlock the intricate mechanisms within.
From then on, generations of Xuan descendants were schooled from childhood in Xuan Mo's dying testament: master the fragmented heavenly tome passed down by their forebears, hone Sha-Qi generation techniques potent enough to unlock the secret chamber, and carry forward the clan's grand ambition of forging a new world.
By the time Xuanji came of age, the weight of his clan's storied history and sworn purpose had become second nature to him.
Following Xuan Li's demise amidst his own vaulted ambitions, Xuan Ji discovered that Black Demon Bane—the sole key to the secret vault—had shattered under a violent surge of Sha-Qi, its dispersed shards beyond immediate repair.
He was forced to bide his time in hiding, continuing to assist the reigning Citadel Master...Mo Tian, all while waiting for a true heir of the Mo bloodline to emerge with the power to unlock this hidden chamber.
Blazing a New Path
That wait dragged on for a full decade, during which Motian fathered a son named Mojian. At the child's birth, Motian tested the boy's umbilical blood against the shards, yet his desperate bid to reforge Black Demon Wound still ended in failure.
Tired of waiting, Xuanji abandoned mere reforging to explore a radical new use for the Dark Demon Bane shards: an intricate mechanism engineered to extract their latent Sha-Qi and pump it directly into a person's body. The process granted immense power, but at the horrific price of uncontrollable madness.
While this 'Sha-Qi Generation Technique' couldn't unlock the secret chamber directly, combining it with the missing shards could upend the entire martial world and pave the way to absolute dominion. Xuanji figured that once he held supreme power, forging a key to the ruins would be trivial. That left only one pressing riddle: how to wrest those fragments from Motian's grasp?
Xuan Ji soon sought partners worthy of his ambitions. While virtually all who encountered him stood in awe of his mastery over automata, natural philosophy, and boundless creative genius, he rarely crossed paths with anyone who earned his respect.
The emergent Order soon caught his eye. Following covert overtures, Xuanji held a secret conference with its founder, Mu Tianmiao, offering internal collusion to dismantle Dark Magic Fortress in exchange for nothing more than his ancestral relic.
Naturally skeptical, Mu Tianmiao never took Xuanji's silver-tongued words at face value. Yet every probing interrogation was deflected by Xuanji's deft blend of half-truths and evasions.
The two ultimately formed an alliance, leading to the downfall of Dark Demon Castle. Xuanji secured ten shards. Though aware that Mu Tianmiao had secretly kept one, Xuanji let it slide—ten shards were ample to launch his plan to dominate the martial world through 'Sha-Qi Modification.' The missing shard could easily be wrested back from 'The Order' once his power grew.
Tianling Tragedy
Xuan Ji soon formed an unholy alliance with the Golden Swordsman, who hungered for supreme rule over the martial world. Together, they forged a merciless plot: harness Sha-Qi generators to drive leading masters into fratricidal frenzies, while using Sha-Qi body modifications on power-hungry warriors to construct an invincible army.
With both the Long and Mo clans eradicated, the success of their scheme would seal their absolute dominion over the entire Jianghu.
As the plan unfolded, Xuanji harnessed shard energy to engineer a horrifying Sha-Qi infusion apparatus. This gruesome contraption pumped immense surges of killing intent into living subjects, fracturing their minds and fueling an insatiable thirst for slaughter.
Whispers of the mystical Celestial Tome soon swept through the martial world. Before long, official proclamations were dispatched across the realm, summoning heroes to Tianling Peak to view the sacred surviving fragments.
When the realm's champions converged at Tianling Peak, Xuanji bid farewell to his young son and infant daughter before rendezvousing with the Golden Swordsman. Xuanji then triggered the Sha-Qi infusion engine; overwhelmed by hyper-concentrated Killing Intent, the assembled martial masters descended into frenzied slaughter, washing the summit in rivers of blood.
Watching the carnage unfold from afar, Xuanji felt not an ounce of remorse; throughout history, every titan who achieved true greatness did so upon a mountain of corpses.
The Golden Swordsman, however, saw it differently.
Despite bracing himself, the grotesque carnage before him chilled him to the bone. Xuanji was already notoriously calculating; should any betrayal arise, his own fate could prove far more horrific than that of the corpses rotting here.
Acting without hesitation, he ran his sword straight through Xuan Ji. In a venomous death rattle, Xuan Ji spat a hidden poisoned needle, blinding the Golden Swordsman. Xuan Ji succumbed nonetheless, and his entire life's research and technological breakthroughs fell into the swordsman's hands.
