Phantom Blade Zero Lore

Soul
Phantom Blade Zero centers on Soul, an erstwhile operative of The Order who faced betrayal after being framed for an act he never committed. Run through by his former friend Zuoshang, Sol was subsequently revived by an enigmatic physician, leaving him with an exact countdown of 66 days left to live.

Mu Xiaokui
As the narrative's female protagonist, she shared her upbringing and martial training with both Soul and Zuoshang, leaving her burdened with complex emotions regarding the present clash between them. This lethal feud forms the core of the overarching conflict, hanging heavily over her as she navigates her intricate history with the two warriors and the drastic shifts in who they have become.

Zuoshang
Having grown up and trained side by side with Sol throughout their youth, Zuoshang turned on him, driving a blade directly through Sol's heart—a strike that ultimately triggered Soul's extraordinary circumstance and left him with very little time left to live.

Mo Yuan
Depicted as the father of Soul, this enigmatic character once parted ways with Soul and their comrade, only to reemerge amid the events of Phantom Blade Zero. While this figure previously mentored both Mu Xiaokui and Zuoshang during their shared past, preview footage captures them crossing blades in direct combat against Soul.
Characters of Phantom Blade Zero
Outside of the core cast, additional characters connected to the Order are slated to appear or be referenced throughout Phantom Blade Zero.

Operating under Inanis as a tool of the Order, the character known as The Forge appears positioned as a potential ally along Soul's path. Additional figures are slated to accompany Soul as well, though verified details regarding their identities and exact contributions remain scarce.

Inanis and The Chord from Phantom Blade Executioners might appear in the game, as certain glimpsed figures bear visual resemblances to them, though their exact identities remain unconfirmed in currently available information.

Setting of Phantom Blade Zero
Unfolding across the realm designated as the Phantom World, the narrative of Phantom Blade Zero is set to transpire specifically within Pangzhen City.

Heroic Wulin martial artists inhabit this domain, yet the setting integrates broader fantastical elements, ranging from widespread cybernetic enhancements used by numerous figures to the mystical powers typical of wuxia fiction. The development team characterizes this aesthetic vision as "Kungfupunk"—a fusion of classical wuxia conventions and a punk-driven technological flair, depicting traditional blade-wielders dueling across heavily industrialized zones amidst pervasive cybernetics.
